Tiny Leaves
They
are sprouting up everywhere! Driving along, it is easy to see which
vine is which variety this time of year, because the whites shoot
earlier than the reds.

Richard Osbon
& Sarah Carter
Good friends Richard & Sarah got married recently on the lawns at
Longview Vineyards in the Adelaide Hills (www.longviewvineyards.com.au)
- fantastic setting, venue, food, people...and of course the couple.

Halliday
2007 - Koonara: 4 1/2 stars
We didn't crack the 5 stars this year, but being only our
second year in the book, that's not a bad effort. And since our 2005
wines are looking as good or better than the '04's, this shouldn't be a
problem next year...

Koonara goes underwater
The
$5 Million restaurant at the Hilton in the Maldives is 9m long, and made up
of three 5 metre transparent arches made from acrylic 125mm thick
and sits under a couple of metres of water at high tide. From there
you can drink our Temptress and
Seductress while watching fish and
sting-rays swim around you. Click below for a presentation of the
restaurant...

Cooking with MacGyver:
 Lighting
a fire in the bush
You need a flash light and some steel wool. Break the light bulb on
the flash light and separate the two electrodes and put it up to the
steel wool. Turn the flashlight on and the steel wool should light
up red hot. Touch this to dry straw and kindling.

Koonara
Temptress Cabernet Sauvignon 2004 - $15.95
A
great year in Coonawarra, and probably at a price which
won't be around for long. A perfect balance of fruit
sweetness and soft tannins (with no residual sugar). For
those sick of the fruit bombs - a wine with great balance. I
received a bronze recently in both Adelaide and Melbourne
Shows. FREE DELIVERY for 6 or MORE.

Nolan
Wine Company Wrattonbully Cabernet 2006
Got a sneak peak at a fantastic new wine from Susie Nolan
the other day; great oak & fruit balance, this one's a
keeper. Not sure of the price, but anything under $30 is
great value for such a little company. Call Susie on 0400
254 496 and see if you can wangle a case out of her before
it all goes to London. |
