Vignerons Cup
The Coonawarra Vignerons Cup is a yearly date not to be missed by anyone but the sun this year. Even though the rain poured heavily all day this year's cup was another great success with $10, 987 being raised for the the Queensland Flood Appeal. Some special vino was also on auction on the day with 2008 Bowen Estate Cabernet being the highest one sold for $1600 to a Melbourne buyer.

Brand New..
Our neighbouring town Mount Gambier, is the newest wine region in Australia. Mt Gambier’s inclusion as a specific zone has boosted Australia’s count to 104 geographical indications in 60 specific wine regions.
There are now approximately 20 vineyards producing fruit in the Mt Gambier area, from Nangwarry, through to Kongorong and Glencoe, and wines are produced from eight of these.
We have always been a fan of this cool climate wine region with a range of our wines coming specifically from this area.

Oldest known winery found in Armenian mountains; dates to 6,000 years ago

The discovery, announced on January 11 by a team of international researchers, details evidence of large-scale winemaking going back some 6,000 years. That's about 3,000 years after the world's oldest known fermented drink, a mixed beverage of rice, honey, grapes, and hawthorn fruit, was being served in China.

Cooking with MacGyver:
Too many lemons?
Half or quarter them, put in freezer bag and toss in the freezer.
I do mine and use them when lemons aren't in season.

Joke of the month

Where is this bus going?
A drunken man gets on the bus late one night, staggers up the aisle, and sits next to an elderly woman.

She looks the man up and down and says, "I've got news for you. You're going straight to hell!"

The man jumps up out of his seat and shouts, "Man, I'm on the wrong bus!"
"Man, I'm on the wrong bus!"

Music to match your dinner: SIA

One of my favourite Aussie artists will be also hitting the stage at the Big Day Out this year. Sia released her fifth studio album titled 'We Are Born' on 18 June 2010. Produced by Greg Kurstin - the man behind recent efforts from Lily Allen, Kesha, Britney Spears, and Ladyhawke.

One of my big claim-to-fames is that I was lucky enough to be at the concert with Sia and a few of her friends in a small club in England when she was discovered by Jamiroquai’s label manager. It is great to see her going from strength to strength.
